Our Wedding:
Insights from the bride, Kimberly
– Small luncheon at Biaggi’s for those with us in the ceremony
– Honeymoon & formal pictures in Paris, France
– November: open house in Washington at my parents home
– December: open house in Florida at my husband’s parents home
Wedding Cake:
The Sweet Tooth Fairy Gourmet Bake Shop
I decided to have a small cake to cut and then have cupcakes for our guests. I kept it simple with white cake and pink {one of my wedding colors} frosting. They almost fulfilled my request…in the end I was happy enough with the product.
Modest Wedding Gown:
Danielle’s Bridal
I went on a whim one day to look for my dress. Danielle’s Bridal was my first stop. The first one I tried on was it! I knew it! Only it had spaghetti straps so it would need to be altered. Their seamstress, Donna, worked absolute magic and rebuilt the top so that it would have a modest neckline and sleeves. You would have never known the dress was altered. I would definitely recommend shopping at Danielle’s Bridal. They made the whole process so easy and stress-free…and ask for Donna when it comes to alterations!
WeddingVenue:
Biaggi’s at the Gateway Mall
We had just a small luncheon for those who were with us in the ceremony. Biaggi’s has a smaller {but sufficient} occasion room where we could invite all of our guests who attended the ceremony. We had a buffet style set up with a few highboy tables for dining. The room was equipped with a projector and screen for a slideshow and a sound system which we had control over to play the music we wanted.
Wedding Tidbits:
Pick a direction and go with it. There are so many different themes and color schemes and styles to choose from. Find the direction you want to go and love it! Also, keep it simple. Though the logistics of our wedding were a little complicated with all of the traveling and open houses, we kept things as simple as possible. Because we kept this attitude we didn’t stress a ton and enjoyed every minute of our wedding and open houses. One big way to help keep things simple was asking the bridesmaids to wear a simple black dress they already had and the groomsmen to wear black suite pants. We then provided a pink scarf for the girls and a grey sweater for the boys. This kept the cost down, a uniform look, and let the bridesmaids and groomsmen wear something they already had and knew they would feel comfortable wearing.
Honeymoon Tidbits:
Traveling is a big passion for the both of us. Allocating a bigger portion of our wedding budget to our honeymoon is something we don’t regret one bit. Who knows when we will presented with opportunities to do something so exciting…and together none the less. We saw it as a great adventure to start off our marriage and it didn’t disappoint. It just so happens that photography is another big passion for us. We decided to do something a little crazy but something that would be very unique to us and our wedding…formal pictures in Paris! We knew we were dreaming big but thought we’d see if we could make it happen. Scott Jarvie made it happen! He did an amazing job.
